Télérama: Why the silence of cinema on Guantanamo?
Peter Sattler: There is an economic reality. It's hard to put together a project like this. Guantanamo is a very delicate subject, I knew it from the start. This is certainly not going to be a film that would involve major studios. Americans spent so much time ignoring it, it's hard to convince them to take a little of their Friday night to go watch this frontal situation created by their own country. But fortunately, independent cinema likes to take risks. And the actors too: I think it's one of the reasons why Kristen Stewart wanted to make this film: it's a role outside her comfort zone.
